Therapeutic Massage:

This popular modality involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress, and to promote health and wellness.

Therapeutic massage is a most helpful approach when combined with my other techniques to alleviate discomfort, reduce stress, and conclude with relaxation.

Swedish Massage:

This is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork.  It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation.

The benefits of the most commonly recognized Swedish Massage type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater joint and muscular flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage:

This more intensive form of bodywork aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of muscular tissue in the body and is a highly effective method for releasing the chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.

Keep in mind that some tenderness in targeted areas is pretty common after this treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins during treatment.

Trigger Point Therapy:

This style of bodywork focuses on stimulating and releasing the “trigger points” in your body. Trigger Point Therapy addresses those tender areas of muscle tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ may be built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.

During this type of work which is usually a part of a multi-modality or combination treatment, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite uncomfortable at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM):

LDM is a gentle, rhythmic style of massage that mimics the action of the lymphatic system, uses precise light pressure, slow repetative strokes to open the initial lymphatics and stimulate lymph vessel contraction to reduce edema, an unusual accumulation of fluid in soft tissue that can be temporary and mild or serious, as in chronic lymphedema.

LDM stimulates the immune system, because it helps move stagnant tissue fluid out of tissues and into the lymphatic vessels where it is transported through the lymph nodes and purified by lymphocytes.

Pre-Natal Massage:

A form of swedish massage is performed during pregnancy (2nd through 8th month) which can reduce muscle tension in neck, shoulders, back and legs, improve lymphatic and blood circulation, reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve aches and joint pains and improve labor outcomes and therefore newborn health.

Women who receive frequent massage treatments experience reduced hormones such as norepinephrine and cortisol ("stress hormones") and dopamine and serotonin levels were increased (low levels of these are associated with depression).

Reflexology:

This involves the application of manual pressure by fingers to specific points or areas (usually of the feet..but can also be to hands & ears) called "reflex points" that correspond to other parts of the body. It helps to identify possible problems areas, to improve circulation and stimulate energy to relieve tension in these same areas.

These techniques have exited for thousands of years and were first used by Egyptians (a method we use which is more comfortable) and early Chinese (a method which is a more intense point of pressure).
